This is one of my favourite route starting from Ueda city. Ride along the Chikuma river on comfortable cycling road heading to Matsushiro twon. The second half of the route is a nice hill climb so be prepared! I use this route for my routine training, and it has a charm that never gets boring.
Matsushiro is old castle town where you can find interesting historical site as Matsushiro Castle Ruin, Zozan Underground, Sanada Familly Residence and more. If you will visit the Zozan Underground, bring confortable shoes because inside the tunnel it may be difficult to walk with cycling shoes.
